1. Domains, URLs and IP addresses
Use an own domain for your website. Avoid variables and session IDs in URLs, and try to keep your URLs short and descriptive. Avoid servers with IP addresses that are blacklisted, and avoid linking to IP addresses that are blacklisted.
2. Meta information
Make sure to provide title, description and keywords meta tags. Joopita.com does check the keywords tag, but it only affects rankings and searches to a very small degree. Limit the title to 80 characters and the description to 160 characters, and make sure that they are relevant for your page.
3. HTML code quality
Make it easy for the engine to index your page by using a clean and simple page structure. Make sure to use properly formatted headings, and describe your images. Use text links instead of image links. Using table layouts instead of CSS may lower your ranking a bit, but not considerably. A bad HTML code vs content ratio may also lower your ranking a bit.
4. Content quality
Make sure to have some content on your page, pages with less than 100 words probably won't rank well. Good copywriting and well structured content may lead to a better ranking.
5. Relevant content
Write interesting things and write for your site visitors, not for search engines. Try to focus on one or two subjects for each page and avoid mixing everthing up.
6. Backlinks
